Footprints

Alice and Fang and I went looking for cotton velour for our dinosaur cloning project. Fang travels with Alice in the front seat, with his fangs and little arms flopping in the breeze.

We tried Osgood's Textile, but they didn't have what we needed. So we went to Joanns in Holyoke, and they didn't have what we needed either, but they had some other stuff that felt like it would make a nice dinosaur.

On the way home from Holyoke, Fang saw the sign for the dinosaur footprints beside the river. So we stopped and went to look. First Fang read the information on the sign, so he would know what to look for. This is what they think the dinosaurs looked like that made the footprints.

Then he went to find some prints. He found one that was just his size, and fitted his foot into it.

Then Alice found a large print. Fang inspected it.

That must have been a large dinosaur, that made that footprint! Fang looked along the trackway, and found another footprint:

The dinosaur that made these was much bigger than Fang.

When we asked him why the dinosaurs were walking into the cliff, he said Alice would know. Alice said the cliff wasn't there when the dinosaurs were walking in mud and making tracks.

All that thinking made us hot, so we got in the car and went home, where the air conditioner was going.

Fang comes to stay

John is the Finder of Dinosaurs, we hereby proclaim this fact on the Internet to make the statement last FOREVER. FOR EVAH!!!

John (The Finder of Dinosaurs) found Fang, a blue T. Rex, and sent him, via Kate, to live at our house. He has a foolish look, and flappy hands, (Alice says he is saying "HUUUUGGGGG" All. The. Time. She would know.) and two fangs that stick out, and the same beady little eyes that the rest of the crew have, and the same great smile that the rest of the crew has. Thank you John - Thank you Very Very VERY VERY MUCH!!!!!!!

Because it is almost 100 degrees Fahrenheit around here, and also July is National Ice Cream Month, it seemed like making ice cream was the order of the afternoon. So Lee stirred up sugar and half&half and eggs and a bag of frozen raspberries.
Fang taste tested it,

and we poured it into the freezer.

Alice and Fang and Lee all took turns turning the handle.

It felt like it took a long time to freeze into ice cream. Fang stared longingly into the freezer watching the paddle go around.

To distract the dinosaurs while the ice cream hardened, we played with glowsticks. Also there were thunderstorms building up around us, and thunder booming and lightning flashing. So, just in case the electricity went out, we made glowstick necklaces and bracelets and crowns for everyone.

This is what Fang looked like as a silhouette.

Everyone wanted to get into the picture too. This is what Rusty and Basil and Peep and Gracie and Rufus and Beep and Fang look like with the glowsticks.

This is what they all looked like when I tweaked the picture a lot. It is easier to see everyone's face, but I kind of like the glowsticks looking all mysterious in the other picture.

Peep took a glowstick upstairs to Sunshine, who is recuperating in the workroom. She her skin grafts to heal before she has her picture taken.

And that is how Fang came to our house.
