Moving Day, plus friends

Last week Kate moved out of an apartment and into a house. It is the house of a friend of hers, and she is taking care of it for a while.

Peep was worried about the move - he sat in a basket because he did not want to be left behind.

He was right - everything was in boxes, and things were all over the floor.

The big loom in the living room was taken apart (that was really interesting) (but a little scary) and then people showed up with a truck and started carrying things away. One of them was someone Peep knew - it was Lee! He used to live at Lee's house!

Lee took Peep down to the truck in the basket, along with a lot of other things. All the big things had to go in the truck. Lee showed Peep the back of the truck:

There were parts of the loom. It was light but awkward.

"Like my conversation!" said Brian.
Brian is a very odd dude, but also very kind.

Lee took pictures of all the people helping Kate move.

Al thinks hard.
Brian is unexpected.
Bill is gruff and grumbly sometimes but he loves us.

Bill got to carry the wicker lady.

Peep explored the back of the truck some more. There were big gray blankets that were hiding things. He thought they might have cookies under the blankets, but it was just more furniture.

He found more parts of the loom,
and  almost got stuck!

So Lee called to him to come out of the back of the truck. Peep thought that would be OK - he had not found any cookies, and it was cold. The truck was really big for a very small dinosaur.

Lee put Peep in the truck cab to keep warm. He looked all around. Then he and his friend waited to see what would happen next.

After lunch, all the people got in cars and trucks. Lee got in the cab of the moving truck, and they drove to Kate's new place. Lee had to wait in the driveway while other people got things out of their vehicles.

Then those people took all the things OUT of the truck, and put them in the new house. It took a long time. Peep explored the new house a little bit.

He found the familiar couch. And the big red ball. Kate said his toys were in his box. When Kate's bed was set up, Peep lay down on her pillow and went to sleep. It had been a VERY LONG DAY.

Work day

Peep and I would really like to post more adventures, but my job has been keeping me very, very busy.

This week, I am working from home and Peep is so excited! He got out some of his toys and clambered up onto the table. Then he asked me to snap this picture to post:

Let's play a game, Kate! Let's play!!
The little apatosaurus and the stegosaurus lumbered around, roaring and stomping across the table like Godzilla. The mighty clownfish swam at them! They were going to conquer the kitchen table and only the clownfish could stop them! They ran to the top of one of the computer monitors and the clownfish swam after them - then CRASH! Everyone fell down! Peep and I laughed and laughed!

I suggested we have some hot chocolate and Peep agreed. It's a chilly day out and it was break time. Yay for chocolate! Even the little apatosaurus had a slurp!

Peep and I hope very much to post another adventure for you all soon!

The Mark of Peep!

Today, I got a tattoo of a stegosaurus!

Lee got a little book of temporary tattoos of dinosaurs. When Peep and I saw it, we both hopped and giggled and bounced. Peep thought they looked fierce and beautiful, and I agreed. Then Lee helped me stick one on my leg - Peep thought this was a great idea. He said I would be extra fierce when I went out kayaking or running or skiing or lifting heavy things!

Rawr!! Mighty stegosaurus!!
It's still too early for skiing, but I can still go kayaking and running and can lift heavy things!

Peep also said that I have the heart of a stegosaurus. He's the bestest, kindest little friend ever!

RAWR!

Footprints

Alice and Fang and I went looking for cotton velour for our dinosaur cloning project. Fang travels with Alice in the front seat, with his fangs and little arms flopping in the breeze.

We tried Osgood's Textile, but they didn't have what we needed. So we went to Joanns in Holyoke, and they didn't have what we needed either, but they had some other stuff that felt like it would make a nice dinosaur.

On the way home from Holyoke, Fang saw the sign for the dinosaur footprints beside the river. So we stopped and went to look. First Fang read the information on the sign, so he would know what to look for. This is what they think the dinosaurs looked like that made the footprints.

Then he went to find some prints. He found one that was just his size, and fitted his foot into it.

Then Alice found a large print. Fang inspected it.

That must have been a large dinosaur, that made that footprint! Fang looked along the trackway, and found another footprint:

The dinosaur that made these was much bigger than Fang.

When we asked him why the dinosaurs were walking into the cliff, he said Alice would know. Alice said the cliff wasn't there when the dinosaurs were walking in mud and making tracks.

All that thinking made us hot, so we got in the car and went home, where the air conditioner was going.

Fang comes to stay

John is the Finder of Dinosaurs, we hereby proclaim this fact on the Internet to make the statement last FOREVER. FOR EVAH!!!

John (The Finder of Dinosaurs) found Fang, a blue T. Rex, and sent him, via Kate, to live at our house. He has a foolish look, and flappy hands, (Alice says he is saying "HUUUUGGGGG" All. The. Time. She would know.) and two fangs that stick out, and the same beady little eyes that the rest of the crew have, and the same great smile that the rest of the crew has. Thank you John - Thank you Very Very VERY VERY MUCH!!!!!!!

Because it is almost 100 degrees Fahrenheit around here, and also July is National Ice Cream Month, it seemed like making ice cream was the order of the afternoon. So Lee stirred up sugar and half&half and eggs and a bag of frozen raspberries.
Fang taste tested it,

and we poured it into the freezer.

Alice and Fang and Lee all took turns turning the handle.

It felt like it took a long time to freeze into ice cream. Fang stared longingly into the freezer watching the paddle go around.

To distract the dinosaurs while the ice cream hardened, we played with glowsticks. Also there were thunderstorms building up around us, and thunder booming and lightning flashing. So, just in case the electricity went out, we made glowstick necklaces and bracelets and crowns for everyone.

This is what Fang looked like as a silhouette.

Everyone wanted to get into the picture too. This is what Rusty and Basil and Peep and Gracie and Rufus and Beep and Fang look like with the glowsticks.

This is what they all looked like when I tweaked the picture a lot. It is easier to see everyone's face, but I kind of like the glowsticks looking all mysterious in the other picture.

Peep took a glowstick upstairs to Sunshine, who is recuperating in the workroom. She her skin grafts to heal before she has her picture taken.

And that is how Fang came to our house.

Happy Adventures of Easter!

This past weekend, Peep, Gracie and I drove north to visit Lee's house to see her and the rest of our friends and family. We had so much fun! It was Easter egg time, and that meant lots of candy and playing and laughing! Just wait until you see!

Look! Look! There was candy. Oh so much candy!
That's a LOT of candy!

Peep met other Peeps!
There was a purple one...
Hi! My name is Peep, too!
And there were yellow ones!
Little yellow Peeps all in a row!

Peep had never met other Peeps before! They didn't much look like dinosaurs, but Peep thought they must be related anyway. Gracie and I thought so, too.

Then Peep spied one in a very pretty yellow egg. He remembered when we were baking and wanted a little chicken friend!
Hello! Will you be my friend?
But, then very suddenly, Lee announced there would be an Easter egg hunt!
Everyone decided that I should be a grown-up, so I got to help hide the eggs. Lee and Al and I went out to the backyard and tried to hide the eggs in really good hiding spots. We hid them up high and down low and everywhere in between!

When they were all hidden, it was time for Alice, Aerin and Jared to come hunt for them.

Peep and Gracie didn't know what an Easter egg hunt was, so they decided to watch and see what happened. They were so excited!

They hopped and bounced to see what they could see. Gracie tossed Peep on her back so he could get a better view.
Can you see? I can't see...
Rats! They still couldn't see everything! So Gracie clambered up into a tree and Peep climbed up onto the porch railing. They're so brave to be up so high, don't you think?
Hellooooo down there!
Oh, look! Is there an egg under there?
They looked everywhere for eggs! There is one right in the picture below - can you see it? Peep can!
The eggs could be anywhere!
Then we saw Jared looking at something in the brambles and leaves. Did he find an egg? Peep watched closely.
There might be something there...

But Jared left again! Why? What had Jared been looking at? Gracie whispered that we should go see what it was! Peep hopped down off the porch and scampered through the grass.
I see something!
There were brambles everywhere with sharp thorns. Only someone really small could crawl through without getting stuck. Good thing Peep is so small!

Peep inched closer and closer. Then...
I found one! I found one!
Peep crawled in and got it!

Peep got his own Easter egg! But what's inside?
Peep's first Easter egg!
We all cheered for Peep! Even Gracie hopped up and down in the tree! (But very carefully so she wouldn't fall, of course.)

Peep rolled it over to the porch and we helped him open it.
Chocolate! My favorite!
Then we all went inside to eat some candy and laugh and play!

Gracie and Peep had such a good time investigating the candy. There were jellybeans...
Swimming in jellybeans!
And there were malted milk eggs...
These look very tasty!
And there were little peanut butter-filled chocolate eggs!
Mmhrummphmm...
Nomnnhhmphmnnin....nhhmmmph...mmmm...
MmmmmMMHHPHmmmm....mhphnmmnomnomnom...
BURP!
Gracie thought she'd found the best treat in the world, and Peep went to go see what it was.
Mmmphumphghmmmmhmmm...munnomnom...
I think Peep agreed!

Happy Easter Egg Hunting Day!
